Bill started racing when he was in his teens, first Motocross, then Road Racing, and now... drag racing.
Bill has been riding motorcycles his whole life and been racing for the last 20 years. From 1980 to to the mid '80's he competed in the NESC motocross racing circuit, then switched to roadracing at the Louden (Laconia) track where he was one of only five people from his state to hold an AMA/CCS license. From there it was a natural progression to dragracing as in mid '89 Bill started racing his roadrace bike, then in less than a year he had a full fledged dragbike. Starting out in the 9.90 class he gradually worked his way up to 8.90, then finally Top Gas (8.20) in '98. Bill got a lot of his information throughout the years by reading, taking certain courses that dealt with engine dynamics, as well as being associated with some of the brightest people in the dragracing world.
Now he is starting all over again with a bigger and better bike, a Pro Mod Suzuki, and will be running in the 7 second range.
You'll notice this new bike very easily- it is yellow and the leathers Bill will be wearing are black and yellow and have M.R.E. on the back and legs in gold lettering. Steamer is written on the chest (left side)in red. This bike could very easily win "Best Appearing" with the outstanding paint job by Glidden Auto Body and lettering by "Yank"
This is quite an undertaking by a small team from Maine. The travel will be extensive, and the time dedicated to racing as well as test and tune will be phenomenal That's why we'd like to thank each and every sponsor, as well as any future sponsors, for giving us the chance to put Maine on the map by allowing us to compete at the next level.
